For our second episode of SEEDS we touched base with a DJ that is creating vibrations in the Manchester music community with his technical ability behind the decks and propensity to seamlessly meld genres, tracks that in other hands have no right sitting side by side.

GFA is the Belfast born, Manchester made selector that shares his thoughts and words SEEDS 2. This ongoing series sheds light on the artists, DJs, MCs, producers, and musicians who have become cornerstones of Manchester’s vibrant music scene. Each instalment dives deep into their personal stories, uncovering the moments, people, tracks, and experiences that sparked their passion and shaped their creative paths. Through SEEDS, we celebrate the unique voices that make Manchester’s musical tapestry so extraordinary.

GFA has cemented his place as a rising force in Manchester’s music scene, building his sound on a foundation of techno while fearlessly exploring uncharted sonic territories. Collaborating with Manchester staples like Tiriba and Hidden, and launching his own event this year—Ceoil Coirp (Gaelic for “Body Music”)—GFA continues to push boundaries and redefine the city’s musical landscape.

In an exclusive interview, GFA—real name Callum Rocks—reflects on his roots, sharing how music became part of his DNA. From early moments spent with his first turntables in his bedroom to honing his craft, these formative experiences paved the way for his successes behind the decks.

The accompanying video showcases dynamic locations that underscore GFA’s journey. Stage & Radio, where he plays a vital role in ensuring the venue’s ongoing growth and vibrancy, provides a key backdrop. Another notable spot is The DBA in Cheetham Hill, a venue GFA frequents both as a performer and a fan. One standout moment from this year saw GFA take the stage on St. Patrick’s Day for LACE, delivering an unforgettable closing set featuring The Cranberries’ timeless anthem Linger.

As we move forward, we’re excited to bring you more stories from the residents and CROP crew members, pairing interviews with video reels and photography to capture the essence of how these artists planted their musical roots.
